Between 3-5 November 2016, CELL attended the Association for Public Policy and Management's (APPAM) Fall Conference, on 'The role of research in making government more effective' in Washington DC, United States.
The conference included a symposium entitled, 'Is Equality of Educational Opportunity Improving? A Look at the Evidence 50 Years Following Coleman,' which was moderated by Adam Gamoran from the William T. Grant Foundation and included speakers Nora Gordon (Georgetown Univesity), Richard Murnane (Harvard University), and John Easton (Spencer Foundation). The speakers reviewed trends in the equality of educational opportunity 50 years following the influential Coleman report that highlighted racial and socioeconomic disparities in student achievement.
